Just hours ago, Lindsay Lohan was assaulted in her hotel room by a man she’d met just shortly before and whom, according to reports online, she was trying to convince to hand over to her photos he had snapped earlier.

TMZ reports that Lindsay and the man in question had met at a club earlier in the evening, and he accompanied her to her room, presumably to continue the party.

The altercation began when the actress realized that he had taken photos of her on his cell phone, and she demanded that he hand them over to her, which he repeatedly refused to do.

They were not alone in the room when this happened, the same media outlet notes, as Lindsay’s friends were there as well.

“Our sources say Lindsay told police she confronted the man about the pics and he threw her on the bed causing scratches on her hands,” TMZ writes.

“We're told Lindsay ran out of the room, but returned later. When she did, Lohan claims the man attacked her, choked her, threw her to the ground, and climbed on top of her,” the e-zine further reports.

It was just then that a friend of Lindsay’s intervened and restrained the attacker, while the star ran and pulled the fire alarm to summon help.

Police arrived on the scene and arrested the man, who was later identified as Christian LaBella. He is now facing charges of assault and harassment.

After the incident, Lohan’s rep issued a statement to confirm the attack and to insist that she’s fully cooperating with authorities to bring the guilty to justice.

“Lindsay was assaulted early this morning in a New York hotel. While she did sustain some injuries, she was not hospitalized. The assailant was arrested and is currently in police custody. Lindsay has spoken with police and is fully cooperating with the investigation,” Steve Honig says in his statement to the aforementioned media outlet.
