After the erratic behavior the young freckled actress displayed over the past couple of weeks, her publicist and her mother's statements come as no surprise to anyone. People have been wondering for a very long time what was up with Hollywood's favorite party girl, seeing they could make no sense of her attitude anymore.

First, Lindsay shocked the media when she verbally attacked Paris Hilton on tape ('Paris is a c**t'), only to back on her words seconds later and say that, no, she didn't say that, that Paris is her friend and she loves her to death. Last week, Lohan was again caught on tape, pointing to an alleged bruise and claiming that the heiress hit her and then poured a drink all over her.

A day later, she was back with Paris, telling the paparazzi they are friends, that she never raised a hand against her and that it was the media the one that always tried to twist things around. These were incidents caught on tape; to them, one can always add the photos in which she looks as if barely able to stand on her feet and - suddenly - the question of 'is she drunk or just cuckoo?' no longer strikes us as that strange.

On Friday night, Lohan's publicist confirmed that she has been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings as of recently. Leslie Sloane also included a plea towards the media to back off Lindsay for a while, until she's back on track. 'Yes, she's been attending some meetings, and it's going to be a slow process. This is a positive. Let's hope that the press doesn't turn it into a negative.'

The actress' mother, Dina, also acknowledged her daughter's battle with alcoholism, in an interview with 'People' Magazine. She also spoke of it as of a 'positive thing', adding that all her friends are there to show their support.

The 'Mean Girls' star herself spoke of her problem in another interview (prior to these other two), by admitting that, when she goes to a club, 'of course' she orders drinks, even if she is underage. In what regards the story that she had overdosed on cocaine and painkillers a couple of weeks ago, she revealed that, yes, a doctor was summoned to her room at the Chateau Marmont, but she tried to play down the whole thing by saying that she is 'no Marilyn Monroe' to die in her bathroom.
