It’s been a while since we’ve last seen a new Facebook scam, but that doesn’t mean that they disappeared. We’ve come across another phony Amazon gift card offer the urges users to click on a shortened link to win "one free Amazon.com gift card."

Unlike other scams, this one doesn’t only come as an advertisement, but also as an event, a strategy used by the crooks to make it look more realistic.

Once the link is clicked, the unsuspecting user is urged to Share it and comment on the scam. This is done to attract as many people as possible, including the victim’s friends.

After this process is completed, the user is taken to a classic survey site that promises more prizes in return for a few clicks and some private information such as email addresses and phone numbers.

Users are advised not to click on these phony ads. Facebook and security solutions providers are blocking the scam sites and links, but their large numbers makes the task difficult.
