Publisher SEGA and developer The Creative Assembly have announced that the upcoming Total War: Shogun 2 will be coming to the market in three versions, allowing players to customize the degree to which they are interested in immersing in the world of war bound Japanese clans.

The most complete edition is the Collector's bound one, which comes with a copy of the game but also with a detailed figurine of Takeda Shingen, one of the biggest ear leaders in the history of Japan, all of them packed in a box which looks like bamboo together with an art book featuring the characters and backgrounds from the game.

The Collector's Edition also includes an exclusive clan, the Hattori, a new battle scenario called Nagashino, a complete set of armor for the general Avatar that the player will use in the multiplayer component and a starting cache of XP that can be used for initial customization.

The Limited Edition of Total War: Shogun 2 will be aimed at those who are interested in the exclusive in game content but are not interested in real world objects, delivering the exclusive clan, the battle scenario and the Avatar linked content.

The Standard Edition of Total War: Shogun 2 will deliver only the base game to the player, allowing him to experience the mix between the top strategic layer and the tactical battles in all its glory.

It seems that SEGA is keen to push the all new multiplayer component of Total War, which allows a player to create and then customize a Avatar General that can then be upgraded as a campaign goes on while also gaining retainers that grant new abilities.

The developers are also promising that gamers will be able to enjoy a cooperative campaign, allowing a friend to control a part of their army in battles.

Total War: Shogun 2 will be launched in March 2011.
