Limbo, the popular independent game that surprised the world and gained dozens of accolades when it appeared last year for the Xbox 360, is coming to other platforms like the PlayStation 3 or PC, in the next two months.

Small indie studio PlayDead struck gold with its dark 2D platformer Limbo last year, after it was released for the Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live online service.

The quirky title amazed gamers, quickly becoming the best-selling game on the Xbox Live Arcade section, as well as critics, with the title earning plenty of awards and praise from all sorts of reviews, as well as accolades from special events in the gaming industry, like the Game Developers' Choice Awards or the Interactive Achievement ones.

Now, PlayStation 3 and PC owners will be thrilled to hear that Limbo is finally making its way through the dark and dangerous woods onto their platforms, with Playdead founder Dino Patti confirming that the popular platformer will be dropping as a downloadable title for them.

Limbo will arrive on the PlayStation Network next week, on July 19, for North American users, on July 20, in Europe, and at a later date for users in Japan or other Asian territories.

On the PC, Limbo will be launched through Valve's Steam digital distribution service on August 2 worldwide.

"It has been one year since Limbo originally launched, and that year has been an incredible time for everyone at Playdead," said Patti. We’ve gotten feedback from many people around the world, and it’s been amazing to hear about the experiences people have had with the game."

Limbo impressed through its dark, black and white world, in which players needed to guide a small boy through a forest environment filled with traps, big jumps and various monsters that could easily kill him.
