Lima, a browser-based dpkg Installer, is coming out soon to compete with Cydia, currently the only popular database of jailbroken applications, themes, and system tweaks.

In short, Lima is a browser-based Cydia alternative.

Infini Dev Team has developed Lima with the purpose of eliminating the hassle of having to access jailbreak software through an application (i.e. Cydia, Icy).

The installer will be accessible via Safari. Its interface will be similar to that of Cydia, in that users are presented with lists of categories and popular searches for various tools, tweaks, apps, and system mods.

“Lima is going to be a browser-based dpkg Installer,” say the folks at Infini Dev team, “meaning all you have to do is visit a website in safari and you have a fully fucntional [sic] package installer!”

“Lima is going to be a great installer,” they believe, “and just for notice, we aren’t leaving Icy behind,” the team writes.

“By the way, we got it working on the iPad and firmware up to 4.3.2 and we are soon releasing v1.4.8,” the team reveals, “with several bugfixes that came all the way from RipDev’s code and on further releases we are adding Cydia Store purchases,” they note.

To prevent confusion, ipwnm0nster (who carried out most of the coding for Lima) notes that the service is not out yet. Those interested in giving it a try can catch a glimpse of Lima in action in the YouTube video embedded just below.

To be clear on another aspect, Softpedia would like to outline that Lima targets jailbroken devices, which means the service falls under non-recommended notice.
