Lily Allen - that's right, remember her? Short, annoying and most of the times drunk, the "Smile" singer managed to force the organizers of the presigious GQ Men Of The Year Awards (who I bet are now cursing themselves for their foolishness) to politely but firmly invite her to leave Covent Garden's plush Royal Opera House.
They deemed she was way too intoxicated (that is, dead drunk) to stay for the rest of the evening and decided to send her on her way before things got out of hand. Wise choice, as far as I'm concerned, particularly since she has a rather unfortunate history of drinking until unable to stand up on her feet.
But this is not the worse part. I mean, if she had just got drunk and been sent home that wouldn't make much of a sensational story, not by her standards anyway. Lily showed up all dressed up and it looked like no screw-up was in sight for the moment. Wrong guess. She made straight for the free bar and by the time the ceremony started she was well on her way to getting dead drunk. Things started to get out of hand when Madonna made a surprise appearance to present the Inspiration Award to interior designer David Collins (who apparently is a friend of hers) and delivered a short speech.
Annoying Lily, however, knew best than to shut up. I mean, who was Madonna to make her shut her trap and listen for a few minutes - it's not like she had to obey any rules dictated by common sense or anything. Lily, I was saying, didn't stop talking - extremely loudly - throughout the entire six minutes that Madonna was on the microphone.
A member of the audience said: "Lily was being rude and loud, she was chatting all of the way through and it was painfully obvious. At first nobody noticed but then it was evident what she was doing - even Madge gave her a look".
"Lily was drunk and wasn't quite aware of what she was doing. It was felt best that she left there before any real trouble started" said another source. As she made her way to the bathroom, the singer tripped over her own feet and almost fell down, which made a few people from her label reprimand her and suggest she left before she did anything worse.
Lily, however, deemed she didn't have enough fun at the GQ awards, so she decided to gate-crash the private afterparty of Keira Knightley's movie "Atonement" which was taking place in the Claridges Hotel. Lily and her TV presenter friend Miquita Oliver headed for the bar and was obviously on a mission to get as much free booze as possible. Which they did. I honestly hope someone does something to make this girl see sense, otherwise the future doesn't look too bright for her.
