Rapper Lil Kim turned 40 (or 39, depending on which sources you choose to believe) a couple of days ago, and she thanked fans for their many birthday wishes by sharing with them some of the love she’s feeling, by showing them her daughter Royal Reign.

Royal Reign was born early last month and this is the first time the world actually gets to see her. Unlike most celebrities, Lil Kim didn’t rush to post her photo on social media right after she was born, and she didn’t invite photographers for a celebrity publication to snap her pics either.

Embedded below is the photo the star posted to her WhoSay account, along with a beautiful message for fans.

“Thank U to all my fans #TeamLilKim #KillerBees #Beehive & friends for the Birthday love. I Love U guys so much and we will be together soon again. On my Birthday I want to share something special with U all.... The greatest gift I have ever received. My princess, Royal !!!!!” Lil Kim writes.

“This is her first picture on the day she was born. It was life changing and I want to share a small piece of my pride and joy with U on my special day today!!! Love U :) :) !!!! #HappyBirthdayLilKim #Royal #Reign #RoyalReign #TeamCancer,” the star continues.

The photo above is of Lil Kim at the baby shower, in the arms of good friend Mr. Papers, who is believed to be Royal’s father. In fact, he said this much on his social media accounts but, because Lil Kim never backed his words up, we don’t really have a way of knowing for sure.

On the same occasion, of the baby shower, the rapper, also known as Queen Bee, made a lot of headlines for urging her fans to buy her baby presents, by letting them know where she was registered at. Even though she still has the love and unconditional support of many such fans, few actually rushed to buy her the stuff she asked for.

Most of them chose to ridicule her online and even to write to her on social media to let her know that she was being shameless for asking: after all, even though she’s no longer the best-selling artist she was some years ago, she can still afford to buy all those things without telling her fans to get them for her.

Perhaps sharing this first photo of her baby Royal is Lil Kim’s subtle way of apologizing for that.
