For those who are unclear of what Likewise Open does, then you should know it's a cross-platform environment meant to bring together radical different platforms like Unix, Linux and Mac. Jay Lyman, a Senior Analyst at The 451 Group, also said that Likewise Open has been a great tool for leveraging Active Directory in order to manage the various OS environments present in any modern company. "The milestone of 100,000 users highlights this, as well as the software's ongoing significance to the organizations that use it, as well as Likewise's OEM customers that license it."
Likewise Open is the enterprise version of Likewise Identity Services, which has been licensed by many leading technology companies, including VMWare, HP, DataDomain/EMC, and Isilon. It has also been included in the main repository of Ubuntu since its April 2008 release.
Likewise Open is a tool for integrating Unix, Linux and Mac machines into Microsoft Active Directory environments. The company says it is the largest provider of such solutions and that 50,000 companies have adopted Likewise Open.
