Midori, a lightweight web browser that features full integration with GTK+ and fast rendering with WebKit, is now at version 0.5.7.

The new and improved Midori 0.5.7 has been released and comes with a huge number of changes and improvements, just like the previous release.

“So what did we get done? A good amount of clean-up including a revamped notebook – this is tech jargon for the tabs UI – with the goal of reducing bugs due to different build configuration, regardless of whether one is using GTK+2, GTK+3, Granite or Windows.”

“A good deal of dead code could be dropped and many things simplified. There’s also a new Database abstraction which you don’t see on the outside but improves error handling and reduces bugs by unifying how things are done,” said the developers in the official announcement.

Highlights of Midori 0.5.7:

• The Session management, which has been named tabby, has been improved and it's now reacting to crashes by not loading the faulty website and running commands on the command line properly; • Private browsing has also benefited from some bug fixing. According to the changelog, the application no longer tries to load favicons from the disk and to enable the sidepanel, for example for downloads (or other panels from extensions, for the brave ones who use the command line to enable extensions in private browsing); • A feature called “Close Tabs to the Right” has been implemented. This should greatly reduce the cluttering for people who have a busy workflow; • A number of other fixes and smaller changes have been implemented.

A complete changelog with all the fixes and new features can be found inside the source archive. Download Midori 0.5.7 right now from Softpedia.

Despite the numbering used in the version by the developers, the browser is quite stable.
