Not throwing plastic bottles and whatnot in the ocean, and trying not to catch them in our nets when out fishing simply isn't enough to protect turtles, conservationists say.

By the looks of it, turtles aren't exactly thrilled about the light coming from beach houses either.

Specialists say that it often happens that light pollution disturbs the turtles that come to shore in order to nest.

What's more, their hatchlings can easily get confused because of it and experience difficulties in making their way to the ocean.

The more time the baby turtles spend on land, the more vulnerable they are to predators, Tree Hugger explains.

Greenheads suggest that people living in coastal areas try to cut down on how much light pollution they create during nighttime and not to focus just on keeping the beaches clean.
