Santa Clara, California-based Intel is expected to update its line of low-power Atom processors with the introduction of the much-anticipated Pine Trail platform. There have been many rumors, recently, regarding the specifications and design of the first netbooks to adopt the new platform. Joining those rumors is a recent article that details an upcoming Fujitsu netbook, that will reportedly be featured with the new Atom N450 processor.

Dubbed LifeBook MH380, the upcoming Fujitsu laptop has just been revealed by our colleagues over at Engadget, as they went through some FCC documents. According to them, the new netbook should be featured with the aforementioned Atom processor, sporting a 1.6GHz core speed and coupled with a 10.1-inch LCD featuring a screen resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels. The unit should also boast 802.11 b/g/n wireless and might be getting a launch somewhere around the time of the Consumer Electronics Show, in January 2010.

Unfortunately, there aren't any other details available at this time. However, Fujitsu is just one of the many system vendors that will be adopting Intel's latest Atom platform for their upcoming devices. MSI and HP have also been rumored to be planning new netbook additions that will make use of Intel's 1.6GHz Atom N450 processor, while other system vendors have already designed new PCs, featuring the company's dual-core, 1.66GHz Atom D510 processor. The upcoming dual-core Atom CPU will ultimately replace the current Atom 330, in the low-power desktop segment.

Intel's Pine Trail platform combines the new Pineview processors with a separate I/O controller, codenamed Tiger Point. The new design comes as a dual-chip configuration, as opposed to current solutions that use a three-chip configuration, including processor, northbridge, and southbridge. The new Pineview processors include the processor core, memory controller, and graphics core.
