Thus, this young lady from Las Vegas, US, is now married to a life-sized Robert Pattinson cutout made from good old cardboard, and says that she cannot imagine how life could ever get any better than this.
How the romance got started
25-year-old Lauren Adkins says that, even as a child, she was quite fond of romantic tales like “Snow White” and “Cinderella.” As she got older, she took an interest in love stories for grownups and eventually became obsessed with “Twilight.”
The woman says that what made her fall head over heels in love with Edward Cullen, the teenage vegetarian vampire played by Robert Pattinson, was the fact that, although he was well able to kill people with his bare hands, he always acted like the perfect gentleman.
“It was different from any love story I’d ever seen before – after all, the leading character was as likely to suck your blood as open the door for you. I was obsessed. Leading man Edward was quiet and mysterious, yet superhuman and invincible.”
“I tore through the books and I queued up outside the cinema when the film was released, desperate for my first glimpse of Edward. And when Robert Pattinson appeared on screen at midnight, he was perfect. I knew that very minute I wanted to marry him,” the woman said in an interview.
How $20 (€15.6) can land you the best husband ever
Some time after the first “Twilight” movie was released, 25-year-old Lauren Adkins came across a life-sized cardboard cutout of Robert Pattinson in character, and bought it for a measly $20 (€15.6), Oddity Central informs.
After dating the cardboard for a few months, the woman eventually married it earlier this year, in January, in a $3,200 (€2,494) ceremony held at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel. The 25-year-old even put on a wedding gown, bought herself a ring, and invited 50 people to the event.
“We had our honeymoon in LA and I wanted us to climb up to the Hollywood sign together. I had to carry him, and we had to do it at night because he can’t be in the sun. But everyone makes sacrifices for the man they love, right?” the woman told the press.
Despite the fact that they have been together for quite a while now, Lauren Adkins and her dear cardboard cutout are as in love today as they were when they first met. In fact, the 25-year-old says that they are probably way happier together than most newlyweds can ever hope to be.
