The Document Foundation announces that the third and final Release Candidate version of LibreOffice 4.3 is now out and ready for testing.

The developers from The Document Foundation have released a new build in the LibreOffice 4.3 branch and they have made a number of changes and improvements, even if this is very late in the development cycle. The final version will be out very soon and LibreOffice users will have something new to work with.

This is the last RC the in series, and the devs said on many occasions that this version was almost identical with the one that would be eventually made available as stable. Still, it's likely that some changes could be made if something needs to be corrected in the meantime.

According to the changelog, LibreOffice will no longer ignore large twips values, a crash that occurred when loading three documents at once has been fixed, mapping for some a11y roles to ATK is now possible, a swap in graphics on .docx and .rtf export has been implemented, absent cell values now have actual numbers and they have been set to 0.0, the galaxy theme has been repackaged, the external references are now kept intact during the sorting process, KindMap for alien file types is no longer interfered with, a header wrongly enabled from .doc has been fixed, and the branch alg_writerframes have been merged back to trunk.

Also, the index boolean property export has been fixed, a regression in the style sheet inheritance has been fixed, the color for NPC has been changed to “solarized blue,” the input against the date acceptance pattern plausibility is now checked properly, the .doc format no longer has large black rectangles between paragraphs, the start row position is no longer incremented by default, missing .ui localizations have been added to the install script, the GraphicObjectShape objects are now positioned correctly, the transparency gradients have been fixed, and numerous other fixes have been added.

This is the development version and its makers provide Linux users with the source packages. If you are on an Ubuntu-based system, you have access to a PPA that will allow you to install and test this latest release. Be careful though, as you will have to purge this PPA when the final release hits the repositories.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
