The Document Foundation has just announced the release of LibreOffice 4.2.0, and Ubuntu 14.04 users can now install it from the repositories.

Unlike previous releases of LibreOffice, when Ubuntu users had to wait for a little while until the correspondent PPA was updated, now they have instant access to the latest version.

“LibreOffice 4.2.0 released by The Document Foundation. Ubuntu trusty users will find this version in -proposed. Thus Ubuntu has the package ready for all architectures at the same time as upstream releases. This is a first since LibreOffice switched to the hard time-based release cycle that bring us all the new features at this fast pace. Install and Enjoy!” said Bjoern Michaelsen, a member of the Board of Directors of the Document Foundation.

If you notice, the version available is RC4, but this build is actually the final iteration. There were no differences between the Final release and the RC4.
