Even though its PITSTOP PC-T1 arachnid-shaped case has only just been
officially made available, Lian Li is quite eager to show how much it likes small form factor PCs and casings by unveiling a new addition to its Mini-Q series. Known as the PC-Q06, the newcomer isn't as unusual, in looks at least, as the red spider but comes in similar color options and, most importantly, is just as eager to take a Mini-ITX or ATX motherboard and make the best of it.
While the PITSTOP distinguished itself through its odd shape and multiple legs, the PC-Q06 comes in the more generic square shape. Essentially, the chassis is a quasi-cubic-shaped box measuring 205 (W) x 210 (H) x 250 (D) mm and weighing just 1.2 kilograms. This means that it is easy to handle and move around, which is essential for a test bench. Of course, Lian Li didn't neglect the actual functionality that such a product should have and, somehow, managed to fit into, and onto it, the full spectrum of hardware support and I/O options.
The small aluminum case can use a standard-sized ATX PS/2 power supply unit and has one 5.25-inch bay, as well as a single 3.5-inch bay, which may be used by either a hard disk drive or a solid state drive. Additionally, its front panel boasts a pair of USB 3.0 ports, as well as the obligatory audio outputs. As for actual platform support, the default model will come with a Mini-ITX tray. Users need not despair, however, as there will also be an ATX motherboard tray available for purchase separately.
Fortunately, unlike hardware makers that show off their products and then neglect to mention any pricing and availability details, Lian Li went that extra mile and made clear just how long enthusiasts will have to wait before they can get their hands on the PC-Q06. Set to start shipping at the end of May, the black and silver versions will cost $90 without VAT, whereas the red will ask for $105.
