It weighs almost 10 kilos / 22 pounds and comes in several aluminum trims

Lian Li has long been a maker of odd PC cases, and while its latest invention doesn't exactly qualify as bizarre, it will most likely stand out from the norm through its sheer size and internal space.

The new chassis bears the name PC-V2130, and we dare say that this name does nothing to prepare prospective buyers for what the item can offer.

The material that can newcomer is made of, aluminum, is, also, not uncommon at all. Knowing that Lian Li offers several color/trim options won't make people bat an eyelash either.

For those who want specifics, the Lian Li PC-V2130 (sadly not yet priced or given an availability date, alas) comes trimmed completely in silvery aluminum, in black aluminum exterior with silvery interior, and in black aluminum exterior with interior of similar make.

All in all, the case sounds pretty standard. The key word here is “sounds.” As we're about to see, the newcomer is definitely not standard.

The first hint is the size: 237 x 640 x 625 mm / 9.33 x 25.19 x 24 inches. Hand-in-hand with the size walks the weight, 9.8 kilograms / 21.6 pounds.

Because of these measurements, the case can hold XL-ATX motherboards, in addition to mini0ITX, micro-ATX and ATX form factors.

Only E-ATX motherboards don't seem to be supported (the types that are wider across), and that's not too big a deal since only some server/workstation-oriented dual-socket platforms come in that size.

Besides, XL-ATX mainboards are the type more likely to be used in gaming systems, because they are longer down, to accommodate extra PCI Express slots.

That said, the Lian Li PC-V2130 has five 5.25-inch drive bays (for optical disk drives, water cooling reservoirs, fan controllers, etc.) and eight 3.5-inch bays, plus four 2.5-inch bays along the back of the cage and three 3.5-inch bays at the back of the motherboard tray.

Clearly, graphics cards aren't the only things that Lian Li thought about when it created the PC-V2130. Not that it didn't push the boundaries there as well. There is room for video cards of up to 360 mm / 14.17 inches, and that's without pulling out the drive trays. Doing that will extend the length to 480 mm / 18.89, which means that any and every video card out there, even professional adapters, will have room to spare.

Finally, there is space for a 200-mm / 7.86-inch PSU and 180-mm / 7.08 inch-tall coolers. As for cooling, there are two 140 mm front intake fans, two 140 mm top exhaust fans, a 140-mm bottom intake fan, and a 120-mm rear exhaust fan.
