2014 is shaping up to be a busy yet productive year for 61-year-old actor Liam Neeson. After being cast in the third installment of the “Taken” franchise, Liam is making the news again today after it's been revealed that he will appear in Martin Scorsese's “Silence.”

Deadline says that Neeson joins Andrew Garfield and Ken Watanabe in the Scorsese-directed film, which is going to be based on the Shusaku Endo novel that tells the story of 17th century Jesuits who try to bring Christianity to Japan.

The film is ready to start shooting later this year in Taiwan on a script by Jay Cocks and Scorsese himself. This is the second time Scorsese and Neeson work together after “Gangs of New York.”

With this role Neeson returns to his more serious acting, after a short stint as an action hero. He hasn't given up on such kind of roles just yet, being set to reprise his role of CIA agent in “Taken 3” as well as starring in the “Non-Stop” action film to come out later this month.
