That must be a record of some sorts, someone should check with Guinness

“Divorced in 68 Seconds” could the title of a box office hit movie or maybe of Liam's next album, because it's that catchy. But it also happens to be true in the case of the two musicians who decided to part ways and were granted the divorce faster than some people take to say the alphabet backwards.

The Guardian is reporting that Liam Gallagher and his wife Nicole Appleton have been granted the divorce, which put an end to their 6-year marriage, after a judge issued it in a hearing that lasted a staggering 68 seconds in total, at the High Court in London.

People who have been battling in divorce courts with estranged spouses for years are asked to refrain themselves from any negative comments on the issue. The divorce is caused by Nicole's infidelities, which Liam seems to have had a problem with.

In the court documents filed with the London court, Appleton mentions that her husband had “admitted adultery to [her]” on July 17, 2013, “prior to it becoming publicised in national newspapers.” This was also the time that the couple split and started living apart.

The former Oasis member and the All Saints member decided that the best thing would be to get a divorce. It was Appleton who apparently came up with the notion after the cheating surfaced and was not contested by Gallagher, who even agreed to pay her “reasonable [legal] costs.”

The judge reviewing the case determined that the All Saints singer had “sufficiently proved” her allegations were true and thus she was “entitled to a decree of divorce, the marriage having irretrievably broken down, the facts found proved being the respondent's adultery.”

Under British law, if there are no disputes, then a thing called a “decree nisi” can be issued, which becomes a “decree absolute” in six weeks and one day, basically terminating the marriage. Neither of the parties directly involved in the case were present at the court, the case being solved by their legal representatives.

This puts an end to the marriage between the two British singers, Gallagher, 41, and Appleton, 39, who first met each other in 2000. This was also the time that they began dating and continued their romance for the following years.

They went on to be married in a ceremony that took place at the Old Marylebone Town Hall in Westminster, on Valentine's Day, 2008. Their marriage resulted in one child, Gene, who is 12 at the moment.
