Lexmark has recently released a new firmware version, the LW20.SB4.P231a FDN.PIR.E311. This update addresses the MX410, MX510, MX511, XM1140, and XM1145 laser printers.

Sadly, this package comes with no changelog, although Lexmark says it should be inside the archive.

From what I know for sure, this release can be installed on all Windows OSes, starting with version 3.1 to Windows 8, as well as on Mac OS and Linux.

The firmware installation is a fairly simple process and can be done using a Windows or Mac host computer, from a USB Flash, using MarkVision Proffesional, an embedded web server or through FTP.

I looked at the firmware flash procedures, and the simplest and most time-effective is with the help of a USB Flash drive.

All you need to do is to copy the fls file to a formatted flash drive and plug it to the printer's USB port. When the “Print from USB” message is displayed, navigate to select the firmware file. Accept it and the device should start the update.

If you don't feel comfortable with this type of update, you will find the full instructions inside the package. Click the link below to get the latest firmware and stay “updated one minute ago.”
