Coming to provide support for Intel's latest
generation of mobile processors, Lexar Media has announced today that it launched the Crucial DDR3-1333MHz notebook memory modules. Available in capacities of 1GB and 2GB, these new modules have been specifically designed to support Intel's new Core i7 mobile processors, providing end-users and computer enthusiasts with a new level of performance. With new Core i7-equipped systems having already been announced, from leading vendors like ASUS, Alienware and Toshiba, Lexar's new Crucial notebook memory comes to provide users with a choice for a high-performance memory solution.
“Intel’s new Core i7 mobile processors are powering the first notebook platform to use DDR3 memory exclusively, bringing the benefits of DDR3 to mainstream and corporate mobile notebook users alike,” said Jim Jardine, Lexar Media’s senior worldwide product manager. “Compared to notebooks that use DDR2 memory, DDR3 technology offers the ability to provide higher memory bandwidths while still using less power, which can equate to better user experiences – not only from a better performing system, but potentially longer battery life as well.”
Designed for performance, the notebook-ready DDR3 memory modules are available in dual-channel kits of 2GB and 4GB, providing users with a choice for the level of performance their system can achieve. The modules have each been designed to work at 1333MHz and with CL9 latencies, while the voltage rating is at 1.5V.
“Intel has worked closely with Crucial to qualify their memory modules with our latest mobile processors and they continue to meet Intel’s stringent validation requirements,” said Geof Findley, Intel’s platform memory operations senior manager. “Crucial memory modules represent the kind of solutions that users of Core i7 mobile processors need to get the most out of their system.”
Although only the 4GB memory kit appears to be available for purchase at this time, users are likely to be provided with a choice, soon enough. As far as pricing is concerned, the aforementioned 4GB module will be available for US$96.
