The PlayStation Vita handheld from Sony might be performing under expectations on the Japanese market, but at least one major video game developer believes that the device will find an audience in the West once it launches in late February.

Speaking to the PlayStation 3 Magazine, Ken Levine said, “It’s a really interesting platform because, as a gamer, it’s the first platform that really sort of gives of everything. It’s the first time I can play things like shooters on an aeroplane; and I don’t like feeling I’m playing something that’s compromised in any way.”

During the 2011 edition of the E3 trade show, Ken Levine, now the leader of the Irrational Games studio, announced that the upcoming BioShock Infinite would have a version for the PlayStation Vita.

The game will not be developed in house and will sport a new set of mechanics and features, currently lacking a launch window.
