Throughout time, Levi's has proved to be one of the major brands in the fashion industry, concerned about its impact upon the environment.

First, officials from the company started a partnership with the Better Cotton organization, supporting the development of sustainable, improved cotton through its line of products. Now it is time for the enterprise to start adopting new measures regarding water preservation.

It might come as a surprise to their customers, but their favorite pair of classic Levi’s 501jeans is far from being earth-friendly, since their manufacturing process implies a significant quantity of water.

If we take into consideration the entire path a single pair of jeans has to follow, from the cotton fields to landfills, we would find out that it requires 800 gallons of water.

In order to decrease its negative impact upon Earth's resources, Levi's has launched a new line that reflects its eco-conscious attitude: Levi's Water<Less Collection, which introduces more than one dozen sustainable jeans, that are considerably more earth-friendly, due to the fact that they need less water during the manufacturing process.

The eco-items are available in stores all across the US. Their manufacturers use only 11 gallons of water to complete the process.

The entire savings are much more considerable if we take into account their entire production.

The company's officials talk about up to 96% water savings for some of their products.

Further more, they say that the Water<Less initiative has helped the enterprise preserve about 45 million gallons of water, and the project will continue.

As a great way of reflecting its green values, Levi's launched the “Care Tag for Our Planet” strategy, which raises the level of awareness of its potential clients, by offering them tips on how to prolong the life of their favorite jeans while reducing its impact upon the environment.

The company is suggesting some easy-to-follow steps: wash less, wash using cold water, line dry.

After the jeans are no longer useful or wanted, the company encourages its buyers to donate them to Goodwill, another earth-friendly enterprise which tries to improve the present social and economical situation.
