In June this year, Levi Johnston announced that he and Bristol Palin were reconciled, re-engaged and willing to make things work this time around. The moment the announcement came, speculation started to make the rounds that it was just a PR stunt on his part meant to promote his upcoming project, which would most likely be in television. As it turns out, television is precisely where Levi is heading to, Variety reports.

Not only is Levi bent on launching a career in television by means of a reality show that he’s currently pitching to all major networks, but he’s also going into politics. As it’s common knowledge by now, it’s quite some time that he’s been trying to make a name for himself either as a model or as an actor. Reality television was just the thing he needed to do so, it is being said, because there’s literally no doubt that one network will pick up his upcoming show.

“Johnston will run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska – yes, the same job that propelled Sarah Palin to governor of that state (and later, the vice presidential nomination) – in a new reality project being pitched by Stone and Co. ‘Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office’ will center on Johnston’s newfound fame as the baby daddy to Palin’s grandson, Tripp. Johnston will trade on that notoriety to make his run for Wasilla City Hall – when he’s not pursuing a career in Hollywood, of course,” Variety reports.

“Stone and Co. are already shooting the show’s pilot and have started pitching the show to networks. Johnston admitted that he wasn’t thrilled at first about the mayoral campaign concept, which was pitched to him by Stone’s Scott Stone and David Weintraub. ‘But the more I think about it and look into it, I think there’s a possibility we can make it happen,’ Johnston said of his political prospects. ‘It’s something that I want to do.’ Johnston already has a campaign manager, Tank Jones, to help him with the task. Wasilla’s mayoral chair isn’t actually up for election until 2012, but in the meantime, Jones said Johnston may look to run for city council,” the same report says.

As per Variety, having Levi run for mayor is not as far-fetched as it may seem at first sight, for the current mayor won by 466 votes, at a distance of 100 votes from his closest rival. Should he win the 2012 elections, Johnston promises to fulfill his duties as mayor – while also focusing on getting the Governor of Alaska chair.
