Experts from New Energy Technologies think they can innovate the public lightning system

Our streets' present lightning systems can become so-yesterday in no time, if the innovative projects launched by New Energy Technologies, a Maryland-based enterprise, will start being implemented on a large scale.

It is likely that the company's representatives have put Michael Jackson's Billie Jean video on repeat to come up with this idea, since the pavers that light after people step on them appear to be the ancestors of this breakthrough.

Officials from the company came up with the great, eco-friendly idea of harnessing the potential of kinetic energy from cars and large vehicles while turning it into electricity.

Their innovative strategy will rely on the fact that cars will roll over the rumble strip-like speed bumps, which capture energy that is normally lost after the car continues its movement.

The enormous advantages of such a measure would change the appearance, the efficiency and the costs of our public lightning system.

The company managed to test its breakthrough in Roanoke, Virginia, where several participants proved that while stopping their vehicles, they succeeded in creating energy which was used to take the city out of the dark.

The officials gathered 580 car owners who agreed to drive over the strip for six hours. The trial demonstrated that such an initiative would be able to respond to a household's energy demand of an entire day.

This appears to be a great way of improving the way our city looks at night, while keeping our local community's budget under control.

Needless to say it is important that, while we supervise our pockets, we must manifest our concern towards the environment, as well.

This target is also achievable, since the representatives from New Energy Technologies can already guarantee that its trials are testing a 100% green source of energy.

The only remaining challenge is to implement the innovative technology. It is also important to evaluate in advance the economical benefits which will come along with this change. We still don't know what to expect, since officials behind this project want to keep the financial advantages secret.

Let there be speed bump-light, if it's cheaper.
