Feminists who only embraced this ideology because they had no idea how to be good wives are now jumping up and down with joy at the thought that a training course in Spain could solve this most pressing problem of theirs.

The 12-week training course in question is to be held in the town of Onda, north of Valencia, and is scheduled to begin this coming February 5.

It is organized by the local council, whose members promise that the women who attend it will learn how to be better wives by becoming aware of the things they are doing wrong.

Thus, this fairly peculiar series of lessons is intended to help women better cope with family life by getting them to understand “the error of their ways,” maybe even by altering their personalities a bit.

As any self-respecting training course, this one too has a brochure detailing what it is all about, and why women should attend it.

According to Mirror, this brochure is titled “The errors of women in loving relationships.”

It explains that wives and girlfriends have a role to play, and that, as long as they are a tad fuzzy about what this role is and what it entails, they are highly unlikely to have a happy and satisfying family life.

As the brochure puts it, “[Women must be] aware we are playing a role, understand the role we play and to be able to change our character if our way of being leads us to fail.”

In case anyone was wondering, this crash-course in how to be a better wife is not free. It costs €11 ($15), and, as surprising as this may sound, it would appear that the 25 places available have sold out.

Councilor Maria Dolores Feliu argues that, based on the number of women who have signed up, there is little denying that one such training course was very much needed.

As was to be expected, feminists have asked that the town's Mayor, Salvador Aguilella, intervene and have the lessons canceled. The latter has not yet responded to these pleas.

Should he decide not to take action against the training course, feminists can at least find some comfort in the fact that the councilors behind these lessons plan to organize a similar workshop for men.
