Longtime partners Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese may write cinematographic history with “Sinatra,” a film about the legendary singer’s life, granted the project ever leaves pre-production limbo. If it does, Leo promises he will even sing for the part.

DiCaprio has come a long way from his blue-eyed days in the “Titanic,” being now hailed as one of the most accomplished (and consummate) method actors.

It’s no wonder then that he revealed in a recent Q&A with Scorsese that, should the film finally get the greenlight, he would actually learn to sing to make the part more believable, as ScreenCrave informs.

Asked about whether he’d ever consider doing a musical and whether he’d lend his voice to “Sinatra,” to which he’s been attached since last spring, DiCaprio promised he’d do his best to suit the part, even if that meant learning to sing.

“I don’t think I’m a very good singer. It would take some training for me to be quite honest but that’s what I do,” the actor revealed during the Q&A.

“That’s what I’m prepared to do as an actor, learn my best and try my best to accomplish what needs to be done for the role,” he added. He didn’t confirm though that he was doing “Sinatra.”

One project to which he’s officially attached is the upcoming “Hoover,” directed by Clint Eastwood and to which, not long ago, Joaquin Phoenix was also attached.

While Phoenix’s involvement has been ruled out in the meantime, DiCaprio is on board, with shooting scheduled to start very early in 2011.

“I will be working with Clint very soon on the Hoover project. I think it’s going to start very soon, maybe January or February,” the actor stressed.

Clearly, Leo is thrilled to be working with Eastwood – so he even cracked a joke about how going with Eastwood instead of Scorsese was like “cheating.”

“Yes, infidelity is in place,” he said with a smile.
