Leonardo DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way, will produce and develop a feature film adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut's classic dystopian novel "Cat's Cradle", in collaboration with manager-producer Hillard Elkins/ Elkins Entertainment.
The book is "an apocalyptic tale about the planet's ultimate fate and a race to recover the world's most dangerous substance, Ice-Nine, a new form of ice that freezes at room temperature."
The screenplay will be written by James V. Hart (Sahara) and son Jake Hart (Glengarry), reports Variety.
James Hart adapted Clive Cussler's bestselling novel "Sahara" for Paramount Pictures. "Cradle..." will mark his second collaboration with his son Jake. The two are co-writing "The Omega Stone" for Critical Mass Entertainment.
Details on DiCaprio's acting in the movie have not been revealed yet.
