Movie star Leonardo DiCaprio recently announced his decision to partner up with Fisker automotive, a company that specializes in designing and manufacturing environmentally-friendly luxury cars.

Apparently, the actor hopes that, by using his popularity, he can convince other people that a green lifestyle is the way to go, and that global sustainability is well within our reach if we all lend a helping hand.

Thus, DiCaprio is to become an equity investor in said car company, the end goal of this collaboration being to raise environmental awareness.

EcoRazzi explains that the celebrity is not just to stand on the sides and allow the car manufacturer to use his name in its advertising campaigns.

Quite the contrary: he plans on getting actively involved in future marketing and promotional initiatives.

Interestingly enough, it seems that, under the terms of this new green partnership, Fisker Automotive will have to offer its support to the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, a charitable organization targeted both at improving the living conditions for the people in poor and remote parts of the word, and at counteracting the negative outcomes of pollution.

As the actor himself tells us, “My foundation supports efforts to secure a sustainable future for our planet and all its inhabitants. I am delighted to be working with Fisker Automotive to promote this shared vision.”

We dare say that Leonardo DiCaprio's decision to partner up with Fisker Automotive was in part influenced by the actor's receiving the company's Karma sedan straight off the production line, back in 2011.

This allowed to movie star to see for himself that, as Fisker representatives claim, the company is indeed working towards making green living as enjoyable as our traditional – yet polluting – ways.

Therefore, it was only a matter of time before, given their shared interests, this car company and the celebrity would join hands in promoting sustainable development.
