Although she’s generally considered the sweetest pop artist to emerge on the scene in recent years, while also an extremely talented one, a male fan with a history of mental issues clearly did not feel the same about Leona Lewis. So, he just reached forward and punched her in the head at a recent book signing – but Leona is not letting that get her down, she says in an interview cited by The Telegraph.

The entire incident could be pinned on the fan’s history of mental problems, but the X Factor winner and multi-award winning singer will not think of it that way. Speaking to the media just recently, Leona has opened up about the sudden and unprovoked attack, saying she has to learn to take the bad with the good. At the same time, she also stresses that, in her line of work, it’s best to put the good first, because it outweighs the bad, which is precisely what she aims to do with the incident in question.

“It could have been worse. I’m still alive. It is just something you have to deal with when you have fame and the positives far outweigh the negative. I don’t like to dwell on the negatives. I’m a very positive person.” Leona says in the interview cited by the aforementioned British publication. Meanwhile, the singer admits she’s more than aware that the thing did not get “worse” because she had many people “looking out” for her and her safety.

As we were also telling a while back, Lewis was attacked while in London at a book signing for her autobiography, “Dreams.” Everything seemed to be going just fine when a male fan reached out and punched her in the head. He was immediately knocked down and restrained by security guards, while the singer was escorted out by her bodyguards. Fans present on the scene later told the media that the assailant was laughing when he was immobilized, as if he had done something truly extraordinary and good.

Shortly afterwards, it emerged that the fan in question had a history of mental issues, which would explain the attack. Some reports even had it that he once aspired to compete on X Factor and was jealous of Leona for winning – without merit, he seemed to believe. Since then, he’s been deemed not suitable to stand trial.
