Singer reveals how she has managed to lose some weight

British singer Leona Lewis has never been – and will never be either – what one may call a stick-thin girl. Considered by many the poster child for a normal, curvy figure, the hitmaker is also not a stranger to weight oscillations. The most spectacular is the latest, with Leona going from a size 14 to a stunning size 10 thanks to a detox diet she underwent at the end of last summer, as she reveals in a recent interview cited by the Daily Mail.

She usually eats very healthily and only very rarely indulges in things she knows are not good for her body and health. However, at the end of last summer, she realized she’d been spending way too much time in the studio and sometimes neglected her healthy diet. Because of this, she decided to go on a month-long diet, which, incidentally, also returned extraordinary results in terms of weight loss, though this is not necessarily what Leona was going for.

“I went on a detox at the end of summer last year and basically ate vegetables and nothing processed. I didn’t drink anything but water for a month! I usually drink lots of water anyway, so it wasn’t a crazy, dramatic change to my lifestyle, but I just really wanted to try it and see how I felt. And after being in the studio a while, I started doing shows and getting more active. I only did the detox for a little while, but it must have kick-started something in me because everyone keeps saying: ‘Wow, you’ve lost weight!’ and I’m like: ‘Cool!’” Leona says in the interview cited by the Mail.

While on the topic of her weight, the hit singer also comes to rubbish other female stars’ statements, saying she personally never felt any pressure from the industry to slim down. Because of this, she never felt the need (or was forced) to starve herself, which, in turn, has allowed her to continue focusing on her health by keeping in shape with a combination of a good diet and regular exercise.

“No one’s ever said, ‘You need to work out more.’ I put pressure on myself to stay healthy and I do want to look good, but I like to eat and I don’t like to starve myself! I love chocolate, it was so hard for me! But I thought, ‘It’s only a few weeks. You can have it, but it’ll make you fat! So do you want that or to be healthy and feel great?’” Leona further explains. It certainly looks like she chose the latter.
