This coming March 26, The Body Shop is expected to officially roll out a cruelty-free collection of make-up and fragrances.

By the looks of it, these animal-friendly products are to be promoted by none other than Leona Lewis, who has recently agreed to get behind ongoing efforts to rid the cosmetics industry of its ties to animal abuse and animal cruelty.

For those unaware, Leona Lewis is a committed defender of animal rights and also happens to hold environmental protection very close at heart.

Therefore, it need not surprise anyone that, when The Body Shop asked her to become their partner in promoting a cruelty-free and ethically-sourced line, the singer jumped at the opportunity of becoming their latest Brand Activist.

While chit-chatting with members of the press about her decision to become the face of The Body Shop's new spring collection, Leona Lewis argued as follows:

“I’m passionate about beauty and I’m all about animal rights and Community Fair Trade. As a result, I’m really conscious of where the products that I use come from. The Body Shop sells cruelty-free, ethically-sourced products containing amazing Community Fair Trade ingredients.”

“Everything it creates has real soul – they call it “Beauty With Heart” – and I love being a part of that. The collaboration is a natural fit and I’m proud to be their Brand Activist!” the singer further argued.

The singer is quite hopeful that her getting involved in promoting such cruelty-free cosmetics will help convince more people that the choices they make when going shopping for such products can either make life easier or lab animals, or make it worse.

More precisely, the singer believes that, as long as everybody agreed to only purchase cruelty-free and ethically-sourced cosmetics and other similar products, companies will be left with no choice except rethink their working agenda and ditch the habit of carrying out tests on animals.

The video below shows Leona talking about how much she likes The Body Shop's cruelty-free cosmetics.
