Leo Backs Up Reality Show

Leonardo DiCaprio has always been a very active supporter of various ecological organizations and that is the reason for which he was chosen as the most appropriate public figure to co-create and executive produce the new reality show.

After the controversy that the actor stirred with his 'Blood Diamond' project, Craig Piligian (CBS's 'Survivor') approached him with a concept for a brand new reality show: taking an average town, most likely devastated by some natural disaster, and turning it into a 'prototype' for the future.

The big-time producer said that Leo was more than happy to jump on board of the project, also throwing his film company, Appian Way, into the deal. The show is just at the concept stage right now, but Piligian says that they are trying to pitch the idea to various major networks to see if they would want to buy it.

'We're going to take a devastated community and help transform it as a prototype for the future. At the end of the day, we're all going to have to change the way we live, the way we burn and use fuel... We're trying to show the country and the world by example, town by town by town, how we can change the way we live and fight global warming', Piligian said in a recent interview with 'Variety'.

Besides the funding that the project will receive from Appian Ways, the producer said that some other major investors will be necessary, because 'this show is obviously very expensive'. Chances are that the show will kick off very soon: according to Piligian, 'a number of major advertisers [...] have expressed strong interest in "E-Topia" for both integrated and promotional partnerships'.
