Lenovo has announced some new additions to its consumer notebook line-up which includes the lightweight 14-inch Z40 and 15.6-inch Z50 laptops.

With these two models, Lenovo hopes to not only up things a notch in the productivity department, but also to provide a better environment for entertainment activities.

The Z notebooks are customizable so users can choose to have a Full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels onboard, up to 4th-gen Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce graphics, Windows 8.1, complete with Dolby Home Theatre v4.

On top of that, users can’t connect the laptops to a TV via WiDi technology by virtue of the HDMI-out connection. Lenovo is also concerned with security here, so it has bundled the devices with VeriFacePro facial recognition technology which allows users to unlock their device using their face.

Another innovative technology found with the Z laptops is motion control, so users will be able to scroll through feeds or photos just by waving their hand in the air.

Lenovo promises up to five hours of battery life with both models. The Z40 and Z50 prices should start at the competitive $599 / €439.
