Lenovo's ThinkPad line has long served as the company's vanguard on the mobile business PC front, being made up of a variety of systems, each optimized for a certain end-user segment and certain range of applications. Recently, the PC supplier has expanded this particular device family with what is most likely the most affordable 14-inch ThinkPad to date, namely the T410i, which is a “powered-down” version of the T410, with integrated graphics and a slightly weaker processor.
The base T410 configuration is powered by an Intel Core i5-520M Processor, which has a frequency of 2.40GHz, 3MB L3 cache and a FSB of 1,066MHz. The new T410i, on the other hand, features the Intel Core i3-330M, with a clock speed of 2.13GHz. The new portable PC also boasts up to 4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1,067MHz SODIMM memory, up to 500GB HDD storage space (or a 128GB SSD) and a DVD writer.
Of course, a business notebook wouldn't be complete without the necessary array of connectivity and I/O options. The T410i can be configured with Bluetooth and WiFi, as well as a smart card expansion slot.
Naturally, small business users will likely be more interested in the base configuration of the product. The new ThinkPad, in its rawest form, has only 2GB of RAM, an HDD with 250GB of storage, a 14.1-inch WXGA TFT, w/ LED-backlit display, no camera and no Bluetooth. The laptop will also lack the optional Microsoft Office 2007 and antivirus software suites. These concessions ultimately enable a starting price of $829. Of course, customers that have no budget restrictions will be able to push the price as high as $1,793.
End-users interested in complete information on the new ThinkPad T410i will be able to find the business laptop listed on Lenovo's
website, alongside its siblings. The ThinkPad T410i is pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 7 and is backed by a one-year warranty.
