Back in April, we told you that Lenovo’s popular tablet duo, the Yoga 8 and Yoga 10, were promised an update to Android 4.4. KitKat in June.

And since it’s already June, Lenovo seems to be sticking to the schedule. French website Mini Machine (via Tablets Magazine) brings us news that the smaller version of the two, the Yoga 8, has received the latest Android update.

The update is being made available over the air (OTA) and is 440MB in size. For the larger tablet, the Yoga 10, the new chocolaty build is yet to appear.

Since the Lenovo tablets run on MediaTek processors and the chip manufacturer has made the necessary adjustments for its chip architecture to support the update, there’s no impediment for the new build to be rolled out.

MediaTek chips are also to be found in products like ASUS MeMO Pad H7 and Acer Iconia A1-830 and both run Android’s latest.

The two tablets run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and since Lenovo hasn’t pushed the Android 4.3 update, this is the first big soft upgrade since the slates have seen the light of day.

Both Yoga offer 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and come equipped with two cameras (5MP on the back and 1.6MP in front). Customers can choose 16GB or 32GB models.

As with any OTA, the update will roll out gradually, reaching different territories at different times, so you might have to wait a little bit, before it reaches your device.
