Chinese mobile phone maker Lenovo is getting ready for the unveiling of a new smartphone later this week, and the company has already started to tease the device online, confirming that it will be called Lenovo Vibe X2.

The company will host a press event at the IFA 2014 trade show in Berlin on September 4, and a new teaser image for the conference confirms that this phone will make an official appearance there.

According to said image, the upcoming Lenovo Vibe X2 will run Android L, though chances are that this will not happen right from the start.

As gadgetstouse notes in a recent post, the upcoming handset will sport a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

Lenovo Vibe X2 should be powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MT6592 processor, though a variant featuring a 2.2GHz dual-core processor is also expected to go official.

The processor will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM, as well as 32GB of internal memory. A microSD memory card slot should also be included in the package, allowing users to easily expand the available storage space.

Additionally, the upcoming mobile phone should feature a 13-megapixel camera on the back, with full HD video recording capabilities, complemented by a 5MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

As mentioned above, the new mobile phone is rumored to run under Android 4.4 KitKat at launch, though Lenovo might be determined to update it to Android L in the near future.

Lenovo Vibe X2 will become official soon after the Vibe Z2 Pro model, which has been unveiled as a high-end smartphone from the Chinese vendor, and appears set to storm the mid-range market with the aforementioned hardware specifications.

Unfortunately, there’s only one thing that has been confirmed on this device as of now, and that is the aforementioned name. However, specific info on the hardware specs inside the phone will be provided very soon, so stay tuned for more on the matter.

In the meantime, we should note that other mobile phone makers out there are also expected to launch appealing devices at IFA 2014 in Berlin, including Samsung, Sony, and Microsoft.

These companies have already confirmed plans to host press events on September 3 and September 4 in Berlin, and we’ll be present at the conference to have a closer look at them and to keep you updated. Keep an eye on this space to learn the news.
