Lenovo has moved very slowly with the adoption of Lollipop

Android 5.0 was released into the wild more than seven months ago, and while most device manufacturers have picked up the new build and offered it for their devices, some phone makers are taking their sweet time providing the update.

It’s the case of Lenovo, who has stayed out of the game until now. Even after Google rolled out the Android 4.4 KitKat update, Lenovo took a great deal of time before finally bringing the new build to its own slew of handsets.

However, not so long ago, it was revealed that Lenovo would finally bestow the latest Google OS, Android 5.0 Lollipop, on some of its models. This was bound to happen in the second quarter of the year, but we didn’t know exactly when.

Lollipop for Lenovo's Vibe X2 is incoming

Luckily, a partial answer to this mystery was spotted not so long ago on Twitter. The Lenovo Vibe X2 will probably be the first Lenovo phone to be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, and according to the company’s Arabic subsidiary, we should expect the new build to make an appearance in the wild starting May 27.

Regarding the other models that are poised to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop, there’s no further information available, but we’ll update you when the time comes. According to the information we have, the A5000, A6000, P70, Vibe Z2 and Vibe Z2 Pro will also get the much craved for Lollipop treatment soon.

Nevertheless, these are probably going to be the only models from the company’s portfolio to receive the new update, as apparently the phone maker hasn’t extended the list to include any other models. Not for the time being, anyway.

A few months back, we reviewed the Lenovo Vibe X2 and we found it to be a really nifty phone coming with an atypical layered and colorful look.

The phone got introduced back at IFA 2014 and has managed to draw some attention upon itself. The phone takes advantage of a 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and rocks a MediaTek MT6595m chipset under the bonnet, in combination with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The addition of Android 5.0 Lollipop on board is bound to make the phone even more appealing to customers.
