Lenovo is reportedly getting ready for the launch of a new Android-based smartphone on the market in India, namely the Vibe X that was made official only a few months ago.

The new handset is currently expected to be officially introduced in the country on December 17, during a press event set to take place on that day in New Delhi.

As BGR.in notes, the company has already sent out invitations to the conference, though it did not provide specific details on what would be unveiled.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Lenovo Vibe X was made official with a large 5-inch IPS touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution.

The new device also sports Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for the screen, as well as a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek (6589T) processor.

Furthermore, it comes with 2GB of RAM, as well as with 16GB of internal memory. Unfortunately, Lenovo did not include a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

However, Vibe X does arrive on shelves with a 13-megapixel camera on the back, with auto-focus, LED flash, and support for full HD video recording, as well as with a 5MP front camera for making video calls.

The new Lenovo smartphone is powered by a 2000mAh battery and runs under Google’s Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The mobile phone is only 6.9mm thick and weighs in at 121 grams.

The Chinese mobile phone maker has already released various other Android-based smartphones in India, where they proved quite popular among end users.

If priced correctly, Vibe X could be highly successful here as well, though no specific info on its cost has been provided as of now. Additional details on the handset’s availability will be offered next week, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
