It has been some time since Intel launched its next-generation Core i5 and Core i7 central processing units. Still, PC makers are even now hard at work on making new products based on the chips. One of the more recent developments is the overhaul of Lenovo's ThinkPad X200 series of ultraportables. The company has outfitted its newest models, namely the X201, X201s and X201t, with Intel Core i7/i5 processors, as well as new performance and display options, making them highly customizable.

Measuring 11.6 inches by 9 inches by 1.7 inches, the ThinkPad X201 is an offshot of the X20 model and is powered by either an Intel Core i7-640LM or 6290 LM CPU. The product boasts a 12.1-inch WXGA LED-backlit screen. As for the actual performance specifications, the Lenovo Thinkpad tablet has up to 8GB of RAM and a hard drive with either 250GB or 320GB of storage space.

End-users can also select an 80GB or 128GB SSD if they wish. Graphics capabilities are limited to only the integrated Intel HD chipset. Finally, the ThinkPad X201 comes with a four-cell or an eight-cell battery, as well as a multicard reader, which can be either 5-in-1 or 3-in-1, with or without a modem.

In addition to the Lenovo ThinkPad X201, the company also released the X201s and X201t. The former is slightly thinner and lighter than the X201, but does not come with a Core i5 option. The latter is somewhat thicker than the other two, but it has multiple display options, including a screen optimized for sunlight readability and one with capacitive touch and pen input recognition.

All new models in the ThinkPad series can reach up to 12 hours of battery life. The X201 has a starting price of $1.199, whereas the X201s is priced at $1,599 and the X201t at $1,540.
