Lenovo, one of the leading manufacturers of consumer portable computer systems, has recently announced the introduction of the latest additions to its ThinkVision lineup of computer monitors. According to the company, the new models have been designed to deliver a new level of energy-efficiency, as compared to current PC displays available on the market.

"Today’s announcement heralds a new breed of monitors that will enrich our customers’ computing experiences," said Tom Shell, vice president of visuals, Lenovo. "We are committed to offering users environmentally-responsible technologies with 17 ThinkVision monitors that are EPEAT Gold rated, of which 11 are also GREENGUARD certified. Our latest additions to the ThinkVision family provide outstanding functionality and a lower total cost of ownership, and will help them reduce their carbon footprint."

There are six new models in the company's ThinkVision portfolio, five of which have been designed as wide monitors. The L1940 Wide, L1940p Wide, L2240p Wide, L2440p Wide and L2440x Wide displays require 30-60 percent less energy compared to previous ThinkVision releases, according to the manufacturer. In addition, the new models are EPEAT Gold rated and GREENGUARD certified.

The company's new flagship L2440x wide monitor has become Lenovo's first 24-inch, low-halogen display that provides up to 255 percent more work area, compared to other 12.1-inch and 13.3-inch ultra-portable notebooks, with displays that can output a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800. Furthermore, the new 24-inch flagship model also comes with efficient White LED technology and requires only 29 watts of power.

Among other features of the new ThinkVision monitors we can mention a new display design on selected models, which use LCD light in a more efficient way. Furthermore, the new ThinkVision L2240p Wide, L2440p Wide and L2440x Wide monitors provide 65 percent recycled materials that are 100 percent recyclable.

Regarding pricing and availability, the company announced that the new ThinkVision L1700p would be available worldwide from September 19 directly from Lenovo or from its business partners. The ThinkVision L1940 will only be available in Europe starting from September 19, while the other models will become available worldwide at the beginning of October. Pricing will start from $239.99 and $749.99 for the ThinkVision L1700p and ThinkVision L2440x Wide, respectively.
