Lenovo, one of the world's leading vendors of portable computer systems, has officially announced the introduction of its much-anticipated ThinkPad T400s, a portable computer system designed as a mix between the company's previously announced ThinkPad T400 and X300. According to Lenovo, the new laptop comes to provide an alternative to users looking for a fully featured, ultraportable PC that can provide the best computing experience in the business segment. With the official release, a number of reviews of the said product have surfaced on the Internet, providing a deeper perspective into what Lenovo has to offer to business users worldwide.

“We've created products like our ThinkPad T400s laptop to bring thin and light computing to mainstream corporate users,” Peter Hortensius, senior vice president, ThinkPad, Lenovo, said. “We've applied thoughtful design in balancing the need for greater portability with strong performance and usability.”

Among some of the options that will be made available for the T400s, Lenovo highlighted the choice for a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo processor from Intel, fast 128GB SSD or 250GB traditional HDD storage, a 9.5mm slim DVD burner or Blu-Ray player, support for Ethernet, WiFi and optional WiMAX3, WWAN, Bluetooth and a battery pack that can apparently provide up to six hours of runtime. Additional features include the 34mm Express Card slot or 5-in-1 multimedia card reader, the USB/eSATA port and support for Lenovo's ConstantConnect and Protect technology.

The fellows over at Hot Hardware were lucky enough to be among the first to put the ThinkPad T400s through its paces, taking a look at its features and overall build. According to them, this is one laptop to be taken in consideration, especially by those that are fans of the ultra-thin, lightweight form factor. Unfortunately, the T400s didn't score as high in the battery-life test, leaving it behind a couple of other systems.

With the release, Lenovo announced that the T400s would be available through the company's business partners and the company website for a starting price tag of approximately US$1,599.
