With Intel's Haswell series of central processing units out and about, we really aren't surprised to see yet another ultrabook coming out. Especially with Computex 2013 out of the way.

Bizarrely enough, Lenovo made its move, eager to hold its newly acquired top position as world-class PC supplier, but didn't use a Haswell chip, assuming the phrase “Intel 3rd generation Core processor” in the press release isn't a typo.

Instead, the Chinese company has released the latest addition to the ThinkPad mobile personal computer series, called ThinkPad S531, and equipped with an Ivy Bridge chip.

"The progressive design of our ThinkPad S531 will help small businesses impress their customers. We pack a punch behind that style, however, as we are committed to delivering genuine substance with improved performance, battery life and legendary ThinkPad reliability," said Vincent Fauquenot, VP Products and Channels, Lenovo EMEA.

"The ThinkPad S531 offers an intuitive Windows 8 experience with the power needed to accelerate productivity."

It is an ultrabook with up to 10 GB of memory (2 GB on-board + 8 GB extra slot), a hard drive of 500 GB, Dolby Advanced Audio, and two USB 3.0 ports.

The LCD is an antiglare Full HD panel, which means the native resolution is of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and that visibility won't be totally murdered when the sun starts to shine down on you in the park.

Needless to say, the operating system installed on the Lenovo ThinkPad S531 is Microsoft's Windows 8.

Sales should have already started, for the price of DKK 4,570, which corresponds to $819 and €612, according to exchange rates.

Available configurations will vary by country, but the OneLink technology will be present on them all, which connects to the ThinkPad OneLink Dock with a single cable (power supply dock that also adds dedicated video, extra USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit Ethernet). The dock will have to be bought separately though.
