It would appear that a certain slate has finally been given an exact release date, as well as what looks like a somewhat more accessible price point if the information put up on Lenovo's website is anything to go by.

The market for tablets has proven to be quite fickle, with many a project ending before it bore fruit, and a significant number of products failing to sell all that well even though they did get completed.

Of course, this has not stopped companies from going ahead and pressing on, especially now that Android-loaded, ARM-based ones are at the same level as the Apple iPad, price-wise.

It so happens that Lenovo is now making the news, its own slate having, apparently, seen a sort of update.

That this company would sooner or later bring out a tablet has been known for months, but no exact availability date was known until now.

Going by the updated product page on Lenovo's website, the ThinkPad tablet, as it is called, will make its official entrance on August 23.

This is just one of the two relevant pieces of information, however, as there is one other fact that one might notice upon examining the data.

Basically, the slate seems to have gone down as far as pricing goes, by about $20, with or without a digitizer pen.

More specifically, the 16 GB model is listed for $479.99 instead of $499, while the one with the aforementioned stylus will sell for $508.99 instead of $529.

For prospective buyers that want a reminder as to what the product can otherwise do, the Tegra 2-based slate has a 10.1-inch IPS touchscreen (1,280 x 800 pixels), 1 GB of DDR2, up to 64 GB of storage, two webcams, HDMI, WiFi, Bluetooth, microSD card slot, micro HDMI and a 2-cell battery, plus an ambient light sensor and a dock connector, among other things.
