Beside the ThinkStation E30 we've already talked about earlier today, Lenovo decided to also officially unveil another interesting desktop offering, namely the ThinkCentre M81, that targets roughly the same market segment as the aforementioned model, namely that of business professionals.

Right from the start, it's interesting to mention that the ThinkCentre M81 offers a couple of interesting options in terms of the available form factors, given the fact that both tower and SFF versions are available.

As expected, the new ThinkCentre M81 desktop can be equipped with a choice of Sandy Bridge CPUs (or 2'nd Generation Intel Core processors, if you prefer the official name), and also provide SSD-based storage (up to 160GB drives), as well as a choice of Intel HD graphics or discrete Radeon graphics cards from AMD.

Now, of course, the versions featuring the discrete cards will be slightly more expensive, but they'll also be capable of providing an enhanced level of performance.

Other interesting features worth mentioning here include the presence of a DVD burner player, plus several advanced security options most business users will certainly find useful.

Additionally, the new desktop units will also feature SATA III and USB 3.0 connectivity, plus Lenovo's RapidBoot technology, that makes use of a range of proprietary optimization techniques in order to speed up boot times (up to 20 seconds faster than other Windows 7 computers).

Furthermore, the ThinkCentre M81 can also be described as eco-friendly, given the fact that it saves 56 percent more energy than previous models, while also using 42 percent recycled materials in its construction.

As we sort of expected after taking a look at its specs' list, the ThinkCentre M81 desktop is actually more affordable than the ThinkStation E30, given the fact that it's slated to go on sale in late April starting at just $599.
