If one were to drop by the official Lenovo website and look around for a good all-in-one PC, they might stumble upon the latest addition to that particular product category: ThinkCentre Edge 62z.

The ThinkCentre line of AiO systems is Lenovo's collection for businesses, be they small, medium or large.

One thing business PCs have in common is that they need a good balance between performance and affordability, and they don't need very high graphics capabilities.

The ThinkCentre Edge 62z is one of the cheapest all-in-one systems yet, more affordable than more ultrabooks really.

One would be tempted to fear the worst about the hardware, but a glance over the spec sheet will dispel such concerns.

While the Core i3 Ivy Bridge CPU isn't the best, it is still strong (Celeron and Pentium are the weak ones).

The hard disk drive of 1 TB is nothing to scoff at either, and that goes for the random access memory as well (RAM), as it is of up to 8 GB.

The display has a diagonal of 18.5 inches, and while Lenovo did not specify the resolution, the likelihood is high for Full HD quality to be supported (1920 x 1080 pixels).

"Our customers, particularly in the healthcare and education markets, see the benefits of the smaller footprint AIOs in their work environments," said Chris Frey, vice president, North America channel business, Lenovo.

"The ThinkCentre Edge 62z delivers on that request with a product designed to maximize space and minimize cost."

Lenovo's ThinkCentre Edge 62z runs Microsoft's Windows 7 Professional 64-bit operating system. No plans for Windows 8 have been made for the moment. Nothing will stop customers from installing it themselves, of course, but there is not much point in absence of touchscreen input, and users might want to wait until Windows 8 Pro is more refined anyway.

Sales will start at the beginning of May, for just $549 / 427-549 Euro.
