Lenovo had a big event last week, where the company’s star, Product Engineer Ashton Kutcher introduced new Yoga tablets with Android and Windows, the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro with a built-in pico-projector plus a bunch of other cool stuff.

But that doesn’t mean Lenovo is taking its hands off tablets and going in a nice, quiet corner to relax. On the contrary, the Chinese tablet maker is apparently planning a refresh of its low-cost line of Android models.

Lenovo is looking to revamp is budget category

The Lenovo Tab 2 A7-10F has been spotted making an appearance with the FCC and has already gained the approval of Bluetooth SIG and the Indonesian website Postel.

All this hints towards the device arriving on the market soon enough, maybe just in time for the holiday season.

At this point, you might be a little confused given the fact that Lenovo has launched a lot of new tablets in recent months.

Back in April, the company rolled out the IdeaTab A7-30, A7-40, A7-50, A8 and A10. Then, a few months later, the Chinese giant introduced the Lenovo Tab S8 which marked a new beginning for budget-slates.

The tablet offers a very attractive design and internal configurations, coming in with cheerful paint-jobs meant to brighten your day, including black, yellow, blue and white.

The Lenovo Tab S8 has an 8-inch display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, an Intel Z3745 quad-core Bay Trail processor clocked at 1.33GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G / LTE and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Perhaps the new Lenovo Tab 2 A7-10F will follow in the footsteps of the Lenovo Tab S8, but for the time being we can’t be sure of that because the FCC documents don’t reveal much in terms of specs.

Most specs of the tab remain unknown

We do know the tablet is going to offer a 7-inch display and will be a second-generation product.

The sketches contained in the FCC documents show the tablet will be devoid of a rear camera. This aspect might seem insignificant to some, but it does confirm the low-cost status of the upcoming tablet.

The FCC files reveal the tablet has a built-in battery of 3450mAh model, which is above most 7-inch tablets on the market, but until we know what resolution and SoC Lenovo plans to put inside, we can’t make any predictions.

Hopefully, the tablet will also run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, unlike the IdeaTab A7-30 (and the rest) that relied on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. And if Lenovo manages to offer it for a price tag below $100 / €78, the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-10F could get a shot at success.
