Lenovo can very well be said to have scored a point in terms of ambitious and unusual plans, having expressed its intent to develop a very unusual tablet, provided a recent report is to be believed.

So far, most slates kept to either the 10.1-inch or 7-inch form factors, although there are slight variations in some instances.

Also, while the idea of hybrid slates (with detachable keyboard) has been played with, most products of this sort still stick to the basic concept of total reliance on touch input.

The tablet market has definitely become very populated already, but it looks like some fairly strange ideas have started to crop up.

Lenovo has now decided to completely do away with all these norms and unspoken rules, at least this is what TechRadar reports.

Apparently, the outfit has been thinking of a tablet with far less mobility than one would expect from such an electronic.

Simply put, Lenovo wants to create a slate with a screen size of 23 inches, as a sort of means to reduce the need for multiple screens in homes.

Basically, the newcomer would be something easily movable from room to room and used either as All-in-One PCs, docked or on tables.

"We think that there is potential for a 23-inch tablet," said Live, Cai, senior specialist in marketing for Lenovo.

"We'd have to take care of battery life and we are working to get the weight down. It's obviously not for full mobility use, but it could be moved from room to room in the house and used with a full keyboard, or as a television. Or you could lay it on a table top and use it for family games.”

The All-in-One tablet hybrid (hybrids keep getting stranger and stranger it seems) is set to be launched this very year (2011).
