Lenovo announced its S660 back in February at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 trade fair and stated that the mid-range smartphone would be available for purchase in various markets beginning June.

However, it looks like the smartphone has just been officially introduced in India, a few months ahead of the release date confirmed in the initial announcement.

According to fonearena, Lenovo S660 will be available for purchase beginning today via Lenovo’s official webstore and the Chinese company’s 1400 brick and mortar stores across India.

Customers will be able to pick this one up for only Rs 13,999 ($230 / €165) off contract, which is a good deal considering the smartphone’s specs sheet.

Speaking of which, there is good and bad news regarding Lenovo S660’s specs. The good news is that the smartphone comes with dual-SIM (GSM / GSM) capability, possibly with Dual Standby support.

The bad news is that the S660 ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is not exactly the newest version available on the market. There’s also the problem of KitKat not being confirmed for this smartphone yet, so keep that in mind before buying the S660.

Aside from that, Lenovo S660 offers quite decent features. It sports a large 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, as well as a secondary VGA camera in the front for video calls.

On the back, the smartphone packs an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording.

Lenovo S660 comes equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582m processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Another strong point of the mid-range smartphone is the high-capacity 3000-mAh Li-Ion battery, which should provide around 10 hours of talk time.

When it comes to connectivity options, Lenovo S660 does not seem to lack anything, so expect the full range of features to be available. That means you should expect to get 3G and Wi-Fi, along with Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS and microUSB.

Aside from that, it’s also worth mentioning that the smartphone comes preloaded with Lenovo Premium DOit Apps, which includes Shareit, SYNCit and SECUREit apps.

“The Lenovo S660 complements our extremely successful P780 and is an amalgamation of striking design, long battery life, blazing fast processing speed and a wallet-friendly price that consumers look for in smartphones today,” said Sudhin Mathur, director, smartphones, Lenovo India.
