Lenovo ready to hit the market with another value oriented laptop

Lenovo will introduce a new line of laptops consisting of two products, Y300 and Y400. Both are value oriented but Lenovo thinks it can make them special by offering a large array of optionals. They may be correct on that, but actual sales will produce a more accurate result for sure.

Y300 is the first in the line and it's indeed a value oriented product since it only comes with a 13" LCD screen. But additional hardware capabilities more than make up for that, starting with a slot loading DVD-Burner and a facial recognition software linked to the built-in camera. Ok, that's not actually the same thing as a fingerprint reader, but it's a nice feature to have on a laptop such as this. The 4.85 pound notebook also features a GeForce GO 7300 GPU which takes care of the graphical interface. Nice addition if you consider that most laptops in the value segment come with integrated graphics.

Y400 does away with the integrated webcam. Instead, it comes with a larger 14" screen and a 2W subwoofer among other multimedia features. Both products use Core 2 Duo CPUs.

Pricing is at the moment unknown but as the line will be launched on December the 15th, you won't have to wait that long. As for availability, since it's a product targeted at the Asia-Pacific region, we don't know if it will sell in the US. The launch date will confirm whether this is true or not.
